The idea
Black offers the e-pawn immediately against 1.d4, hoping for quick piece activity and tactical tricks if White grabs it greedily. It’s a dubious try against accurate, prepared play by mainstream theory’s own standards - the appeal is punishing an unfamiliar opponent fast, in a position that leaves normal opening theory almost immediately.
