The idea

Once White actually takes the pawn on b5, Black wastes no time following up with a6, immediately challenging it again and forcing a choice between handing the pawn straight back or defending it while Black’s rooks and fianchettoed bishop start working the open files right away. The accepted lines are exactly where the gambit’s whole bet - fast, lasting pressure over material - gets tested most directly.
